Let’s get digital! Join us at our National Apprenticeship Week open event

We’re opening our doors later this week to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week. Our Let’s Get Digital opening evening will take place on Thursday 7th March, and will feature business leaders from across the north east sharing their expertise with prospective apprentices.

You’ll be able to meet the training team and take part in discussions about your potential career options. We’ll also be available to answer any specific queries you might have about the apprenticeships we offer.

We’re running this event to help highlight the quality digital apprenticeships that are available, alongside the government’s #FireItUp campaign that aims to promote the range of options in apprenticeships.

The purpose of the event is to provide an insight into the types of people that make great apprentices. There are loads of attributes that make someone a natural fit for a digital career, and our team have years of experience of finding the best route for each individual.

Our founder and CEO, Simon Howatson, says: “I want the young people of this region to see that there are lots of fantastic employers out there who are willing to invest in growing digital talent. There is a huge demand from business for digital skills and we provide a vital service in introducing talented apprentices to businesses and providing the training needed to ensure they can add value and kickstart their digital careers.

“I know we have a wealth of incredible talent in the North East and I hope this event will help inspire some of them to start their journey towards developing their digital skills for the jobs of tomorrow.”

Nathan Taylor, one of our current apprentices working as an IT Technician, said: “Choosing an apprenticeship in something digital was easy for me. I have always enjoyed solving problems and I am really enjoying the mix of hands-on training in the business and theory through our week-long teaching blocks.

“The mix of developing my skills whilst working and earning was the right choice for me and I’m excited about how I can develop my career through this apprenticeship.”

Local entrepreneur Jack Deverson, MD of Evidence Based Education – who are currently looking for an apprentice, said: “I have recently moved my business to Sunderland as it is a fantastic area for digital skills. My business provides online courses and technology to train staff from some of the best schools in the world.

“I decided to work with CODE to help me to recruit apprentices passionate about digital skills to grow the future leaders in my company. My business has grown year on year, but digital skills will be crucial to keep this momentum going.”

You can register for the event for free on the Eventbrite website. Everyone who attends will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a refurbished laptop from DC Reclamation.
